Universal Law of Growth cycle: Tension, Resistance, Release, Adaptation within the Self-Scaffolding framework

This sequence appears across physical development, emotional processing, cognitive learning, and behavioural adaptation.

The Four Phases

➟ Tension

Increased internal or external demand.

➟ Resistance

Temporary limitation of engagement while load is managed.

➟ Release

Restored access and reorganisation.

➟ Adaptation

Consolidated learning and structural change.

The term “Universal Law of Growth” is used descriptively to organise a recurring pattern observed across learning, training, and biological adaptation. It does not claim the establishment of a formal scientific law.

Why This Sequence Matters

When release follows resistance, adaptation consolidates.

Self-Scaffolding aligns with this biological sequence by recognising where capacity sits within the cycle of demand, recovery, and learning.

Self-Scaffolding presents its conceptual framework openly. Applied tools, implementation methods, and practical materials are currently being developed and explored through pilot contexts.

All materials are structured with care to support clarity, consistency, and integrity of the framework.
